Footsore After a Long Day
As much as the first two days were hilly, so today was flat. Beaches, dunes and a 14 mile cycle path allowed me to cover miles quickly so I route marched 31 miles to end back at Bideford for another night with Thom and Anna. According to the plan I should only have done a 28 mile walk but it as I was travelling across such forgiving terrain it seemed sensible to put an extra 3 miles in the bank for a rainy day.
Here’s my first attempt at a vlog. Thanks Bombys for the loan of the camera.
Physically I’m feeling pretty good. Heart and lungs working better than any time in the last 10 years, thighs sore but managing ( and now reeking of deep heat). The low points are my feet which are incredible sore, just from fatigue I think but bad enough to force me to slow down at times. As I was on the cycle path this afternoon I got Holly to bring my training shoes and did the last nine miles in much greater comfort.
Along the way today I met with Sarah Hampton from the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Lovely to put a name to a face and nice to know she’s delighted with the coverage we’ve been getting. I guess she gets lots of nutters doing daft things.
Tomorrow gets hilly again so a hot bath was very welcome dinner is smelling great.
