David’s Walk for the Motor Neurone Disease Association
For the next couple of months this blog will be almost entirely dedicated to the preparation for and then attempt to walk the South West Coast Path. Having been thinking about it for about 5 years I’ve finally got around to doing something about it and the walk is now scheduled to start on 16th December.
I intend to walk the 630 miles of the coast path from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset at an average rate of 25 miles per day. The walk should take 25 days and all being well will finish on 9th January 2013. In the process I hope to raise in excess of £2500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. I have, of course, set up a donations page here http://www.justgiving.com/SWCP25x25 and have already passed the first milestone by raising more than £1000.
Walking 25 miles a day continuously for 25 days would have been quite a challenge when I was 25; now that I’m 50 it definitely won’t be a walk in the park. However, it wouldn’t really be a challenge if I thought I could definitely do it so I’m comfortable with if very worried about the element of doubt.
Any donations will definitely help to make me more determined to succeed so please feel free to give generously.
In further posts I hope to talk about why I’m doing it, how I’m preparing for it and lots more so please keep stopping buy and seeing whats happening. I will also be doing daily updates during the walk which is now only 1 month away.
